Total Body Automatic Mapping Consultation
At the Clínica de Dermatologia Grupo Sofia Magina, the dermatologists responsible for the Total Body Automatic Mapping Consultation are Prof.ª Sofia Magina and Dr. Nuno Gomes, physicians with differentiation
in Dermatoscopy.
In 2022, we acquired the FotoFinder ATBM master® digital dermatoscopy device. This device makes it possible to carry out Automatic Total Body Mapping, which is an asset in the early detection of skin neoplasms such as malignant melanoma.
It is an innovative device because it unites digital dermatoscopy (precise detection of changes in the structures and colors of atypical lesions) to total body mapping (detection of new lesions and macroscopic
changes in pre-existing nevi), reconciling human knowledge with Artificial Intelligence techniques, allowing magnification of each lesion up to 400 times.
After evaluating a particular nevus, we can perform an excisional biopsy and send it for histopathological examination or opt for a short-term (3 months) or long-term (6-12 months) follow-up. The people who benefit most from the Automatic Total Body Mapping device are those who meet the following criteria:
• ≥40 common “sign” nevi
• ≥20 common “sign” nevi + ≥5 atypical nevi/age>50 years/phototype I/family or personal history of melanoma/actinic
damage/multiple non-melanoma skin cancers
• past medical history of multiple melanomas
• melanoma + CDKN2A mutation
• melanoma and phototype 1
